Unwoman (aka Erica Mulkey) is a San Francisco-based cellist-singer-songwriter. Layered with skillful cello, rich vocals, and electronically arranged beats, her solo music is an unapologetically dark, futuristic homage to her classical training. Unwoman performs often in the Bay Area and has been featured at steampunk, goth, and sci-fi-related events all over North America. She has collaborated with Stripmall Architecture, Voltaire, Rasputina, Jill Tracy, Vernian Process, Abney Park, and Attrition. Other influences include Amanda Palmer, Florence and the Machine, Lady GaGa, Siouxsie Sioux, and Beats Antique. She also plays the piano, cello banjo, and theremin.

In Spring of 2010 Unwoman released her fourth full-length self-produced album, Casualties. Its pressing was funded by fans on kickstarter, and its release coincided with a huge bump in her popularity due to several enthusiastic tweets from Amanda Palmer.

Unwoman toured the west coast in May 2010. In July 2010 she busked in San Francisco nearly every day, making strong connections with new fans. In August, Unwoman met drummer Felix Macnee at a meetup for users of bandcamp.com and they began a collaboration called Heavy Sugar Duo. The pair immediately began performing in BART stations, high-end private events and street festivals. Unwoman continues to perform solo, with Felix, and as a guest in other bands, throughout the Western US. In 2011 she has been or will be a featured performer in at least six Steampunk conventions or festivals.
