Los Angeles-bred, New Orleans residing, two-children-having working-loving-struggling-complaining-cooing-cajoling-rapping Renaissance woman Voice is nothing if not herself. A child actress coming from a family with roots in the entertainment industry, Voice was almost a showbiz train-wreck herself. Fortunately, her people's roots run way deeper than Hollywood; both her parents, hailing from New Orleans, raised young Voice equal parts in both cities.

With a jazz vocalist mother, thespian father and the fledgling culture of Hip Hop as the backdrop to her evolution this is the Voice paradox in a nutshell: 50% jazz, 50% foot in yo ass. Her tone is smooth, warm, sultry, steady; but it's the faintest tilt that she gives the most random words and syllables that remind you (if you are actually listening) that she ain't here for baby-talk and holding hands, unless you're her baby or her man.

Voice's first appearance on record was on 2002's "The Christie And Dupont EP", an import-only release on Canadian label Public Transit Recordings, produced by PTR mascot Moonstarr, who has gone on to become Voice's most constant partner in crime, producing her follow-up outing "BB Girl", which appeared on the "Scattered Snares Across The Track" album from the same year (Twisted Funk).

Her 2006 debut solo album "Gumbo", also released through PTR, received great reviews and paved the way for a slew of further collaborations, including a song on UK jazz-hop outfit the Visioneers' "Dirty Old Hip Hop" album (BBE, 2007) and another on one-man production team Aaron Jerome's "Time To Rearrange" full-length (BBE, 2008).

On May 29, 2008 Voice joined trip-hop darling Wax Tailor onstage at the world famous Olympia in Paris to perform their collaboration "The Games You Play" (which play listed to France's INTER radio in January 2008), from Tailor's "Hope & Sorrow" album (Decon/Atmospheriques, 2007). To date "Hope & Sorrow" has been nominated for a French Music Award, has received a certified silver status in album sales and the animated video for "The Games You Play" has been in featured rotation on MTV, TRACE TV and a slew of other networks throughout France.

An appearance on the new Marc Mac mixtape "In Between The Lines" (Omniverse Records 2009) as well as an encore collaboration for the third Wax Tailor album serve as primers for Voice's sophomore solo album "N.O.L.A. Darling" (Featherperm Records) which debuted fall 2009, and brought together everything that makes her world go round: hip-hop, jazz, house, lounge, being broke, being frustrated, finding love, creating love, learning, teaching, putting it all together and moving forward. You know, everyday life stuff, just way more interesting.

Voice currently serves as Kid Smart's Hip Hop Artist in Residence throughout the Greater New Orleans area educating grade school youth on the history and culture of Hip Hop. She promotes literacy through rap, nonviolence, nurturing the power of expression and helping young minds to recognize the role each individual has in reshaping this art form into whatever they personally envision.
